PP<\/h1>\n

Polypropylene (PP) is a material usable for a variety of different applications at temperatures up to 80\u00b0C. It combines reasonable costs with impeccable chemical resistance, low weight and generally speaking excellent mechanical properties. PP homo-polymers have a glass transition temperature of -10\u00b0C and become brittle at temperatures below 0\u00b0C. Copolymers, which are the most important material for the components of conveyor systems, possess better impact resistance at temperatures from -15\u00b0C to -35\u00b0C, at the expense of less rigidity and lower thermal performance.<\/strong><\/p>\n

PP has extremely low moisture absorption of less than 0.1% when saturated. In combination with its excellent resistance to hydrolysis, this makes the material extremely suited to many applications. PP has high resistance to a large diversity of chemicals, including acids, alcohols, warm water and most cleaning agents. The material possesses average resistance to aromatic or halogenated hydrocarbons. It has limited UV resistance.<\/p>\n

For applications where electrical discharges may cause problems, KIK uses antistatic PP compounds based on a special conductive carbon. Adding conductive carbon reduces the impact resistance of these materials.<\/p>\n

For applications that require extra flexibility, KIK uses a specially manufactured PP material, i.e. PPK.
